2 Line Phone System
Two lines, caller ID, answering sytem and multiple handsets with one phone jack.
A 2 line phone system allow us to operate with as many as eight
extensions which is ideal for many small businesses. They can obviously also be very helpful and
practical in our homes and home offices. For example, we can have message extensions for John, Mary, Samantha
and Peter at home and for businesses, we can have extensions for sales, accounts receivable and shipping
besides message extensions for voice mail, giving our home based business more of a legitimate "real business"
feel.
These phone systems can be corded, cordless or a mixture of the two. It is not common to see a 2 line cordless
phone system in the average office as these are normally used only when the workers are on their feet all the
time, moving from one spot to another, like in a large warehouse for example. On the other hand, if workers
are desk-bound all day, the 2 line telephone system is likely going to be a corded system which typically offers
better voice and reception quality. Most businesses choose to have a mixture of the two with both a corded and
cordless phone on the desk. This way, a worker can go to get a cup of coffee and not worry about missing an
important call.
Typically, a 2 line phone system will have an answering machine built in, a speaker system for conference call
capability and be expandable with several handsets through a single phone jack. Caller ID and call waiting are
almost standard fare any more for this type of phone.
The Panasonic systems are among the best in this category and an example is the Panasonic 2 Line Phone System
described below:

Handsets
Two-Line Operation Helps You Manage Your Calls
With two-line operation, you can conference in two outside lines to have a three-way conversation. Or place
your current call on hold to make another call. Being able to use two phone lines with just one phone makes it
convenient and efficient to manage your calls. You can put handsets all over your house-in your kid's rooms or even
in the garage-without all the messy wiring or complicated setup. With Pansonic's 5.8 GHz expandable phone systems,
you don't need a phone jack for each additional handset-just one for the base unit. So start expanding and forget
about all your wiring worries.
All-Digital Answering System
This phone system is equipped with an all-digital answering system for quick, easy retrieval of
crystal-clear messages. Message operation has never been easier, with up to 60 minutes of recording time, plus such
features as pre-recorded outgoing message, remote operation, Tollsaver, and skip-and-repeat. And don't worry about
losing your messages when the power goes out-they're stored in flash memory so they're unaffected by power failure
or interruptions.
Put the Phone Down While You Talk
Having a handset speakerphone may not seem like such a big deal--until you have to call an automated phone
system. By the time you press 2 and return the phone to your ear, you missed half the next option. And when they
put you on hold for ten minutes, do you really need to hold the phone? Not with the handset speakerphone. Just
listen along, and press a button or pick up when it's convenient. You'll think up other great uses, like letting
Grandma and Grandpa listen to their new grandchild at the same time, painting your nails as you talk to your best
friend, or just being able to set the phone down while you talk.
